I've been to Mama Joe's a few times. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, since the sign says "A foodie collective", and my experience with collectives was that you usually have to be a member, which I'm not. However, I went in anyway and...am I ever glad I did! It's mostly a take-out place, although there's a large table and a shelf with seating if you'd like to eat in. The menu is fluid--follow the web page to find out what's on offer on a particular day--and the food is pretty amazing. My particular favourites are the picante sauce (hot, sweet, and delicious--unlike a lot of sauces that are hot, vinegary, and that's about it) and the lemon ricotta cannoli. Joe is great to talk to and interesting. They offer a Chef's Table if you want to book it--tell them when, how many, now much you want to spend, and what sort of food you're interested in and they'll do the rest. If you're looking for a romantic, atmospheric place to go on a date, this probably isn't for you. But if you're looking for great food and great take-out, give this place a try.
