When on the road so many days of the year, it is always good to find a restaurant within a hotel that more than lives up to my minimum standards. The friendly staff immediately established a fun rapport, and I hoped the food would be...as good. (The hotel’s room-key 15% discount was also as welcome as spring rain.) Starting off with the mussels immediately set the tone: ideally heated and with enough tomatoes in the sauce to balance the fish (as did the garlic flatbread). For the main, the sausage penne also worked well. Smothered in roasted peppers, Kalamata olives, and a chili-basil sauce—wonderfully topped by fresh leeks—everything was great even if the pasta was not quite al dente. A refreshing glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc and a side of water “with no vegetables” (i.e., lemon) only added to the overall fine experience.
