This is not a typical Vietnamese restaurant on Commercial Drive in East Vancouver, therefore you don't see the local Vietnamese community dining in Lunch Lady. The target customers are millennial, the food is upscale and Instagram worthy. The food is very good and comes with...good portion, but I am not sure the food is better than other local Vietnamese eateries in Vancouver. Lunch Lady just makes ordinary Vietnamese and Chinese food looks upscale and creative, and probably charges more. For example, long Chinese donuts are the usual dim-sum food in Chinese restaurants, but if you don't know what Chinese donuts are, and you order one to go along with your pho, they are $3 for three literally tiny pieces, while a Chinese dim-sum place probably charges you $3 for a pair of long Chinese donuts. Now I must say Lunch Lady has become a very popular eatery on Commercial Drive with line-ups at lunch time even during Covid times. And you have to reserve a table for supper, period.
