It is not often I disagree with ALL other writers but we had two very happy experiences at this restaurant. Yes they were very busy (all tables full) but when we told them we only had 40 minutes the food appeared instantaneously. The French do...not hurry their meals, why would this be different in Montreal? The guy who appeared to own/run the place remembered us the second day. In a city where a burger is £15, a beer is £8, two small cups of coffee are £7 and a bottle of plonk is £30, plus 15% tax, plus an expected 15% tip; we welcomed these prices! We sat outside watching the world go by for over an hour and we were not hustled to leave, having spent only a modest amount. My poutine was tasty and the lasagna was fine too. The beer was cold and the sun was shining in September. They also sell ice creams. This is a cafe not a restaurant. We went back the next day and enjoyed another humble meal. If you are in a hurry and want to be ripped off regally and hurried off your table for the next people, then there is a huge choice of restaurants out there to choose from in the posh square. However if you just want a casual drink and a snack and not spend a small fortune this place may well suit you.
