Three of us went to the Garden for their lunch specials. I had read about this place in TA and wanted to try it based on the reviews and on their menu (they are one of only a few that offers Peking Duck in the...deep south of Calgary). They offer two types of meals for lunch, a combination plate of two items plus fried or steamed rice, or plates of one choice. My wife had the fried rice with beef and broccoli and with Moo Goo Gai Pan, or chicken with mushrooms. I had the special chow mein and my son had the Singapore noodles. My wife's dish, like all of them, was huge. None of us could finish our meals and took half home. The beef was tender and tasty, the chicken and mushrooms also. My chow mein was also very large and tasty, lots of chicken, shrimp and BBQ pork. The special part of the special chow mein was the addition of bean sprouts, a great choice. My son's noodles were made of rice (he is gluten intolerant) and had a mild curry sauce with lots of meats and vegetables. Before tip, our lunch order, with tea, came to $43, a very decent price for the taste and portions that we received. While not outstanding, this place does deserve a second visit, maybe to try their Peking Duck. One negative is that, despite it being very slow, the tables were left uncleaned and littered with glasses and stuff for quite a while after customers had left.
