We were staying at the hotel across the street, and decided to come here for dinner because it was so close by. I've been to Guu Garden once before, a long time ago, but this is my first review. First thing to know that it...is on the 3rd floor of the building so you need to weave up two series of stairs to get to Guu Garden. Don't confuse it with Gyu-Kaku on the the ground floor. Upon arrival, they acknowledged our reservation and took us to our table which had physical drop-down blinds on both sides to physically separate us from other customers. As a traditional Japanese restaurant, they ask you to remove your shoes before sitting down. The menu and ordering processing is all completely digital now. You scan a QR card to access the menu, pick your menu items and pay online to complete your order. If you plan on ordering more than one round of food, you'll need to repeat the process. We ended up trying the following: - Beef Tongue Chazuke - Very good. Beef tongue was grilled just right so it stayed tender. Chazuke is very much a comfort food, so I liked it. - Mochi Kin - Not so good. Looks cute, but I tend to associate mochi with sweet flavors, so didn't like this much. - Ingen (Green Bean) Fries - Very good. Very light batter and nicely fried. Good portion size. - Cauliflower Kaarage - Average. Not enough batter, so it was more like eating a lightly steamed cauliflower then a fried one. - Chicken Karaage - Very good. Freshly fried and very juicy. Large size was almost too big! - Small Tuna Tataki - Good. I liked the use of the onions and garlic chips. - Takoyaki - OK. Pretty standard, but they had a mustard mayo that my kids didn't like. - Salmon Oshi - Good. The don't copycat what everyone else is doing using Japanese mayo, but instead use a ponzu sauce. It was nice. Service is pleasant and efficient. Since you order and pay digitally, the staff is there only to deliver the food and clear the dishes as you finish. Overall, a pretty nice meal. This is the first time I've been in a restaurant in a long time, so I certainly enjoyed the experience. They made the entire environment feel very safe, and the pricing is slightly discounted for using their online ordering platform. Not all of the dishes were winners, but enough to give a very good rating. I would go back.
