What a hidden gem on the E. Hastings strip. Pennyroyal Coffee is a simple yet classy cafe. The facade is very clean and proper, as is the inside. The interior is well laid out with stool window seats, small tables along the walls, and a...gorgeous wooden table at the end. The walls are professionally decorated with framed shots by local photographers. On to the star of the show...the coffee. I started with shot of potent espresso topped with oat milk. What a heavenly combo that was! I took the time to slowly savour each sip. Feeling a bit hungry, I added an almond croissant produced by a local bakery nearby. I love how this indie is supporting his own local businesses. Better yet, the croissant was sooooo nice right to the last bite....and of course, I scraped up all the crumbs and enjoyed that just as much. Lastly, the owner who took over the shop this summer is a gentleman. He knows his coffee!! I hope everyone in the area will keep supporting the Indies.
