We don't usually order out pizza but decided to do so this evening after looking at various reviews none of which stood out. I am not sure why we picked Topper's to deliver our pizza. The order was placed around 9 PM on a Friday...evening with delivery promised in 45 minutes. An hour later, there was no pizza. We called the Topper's main phone number and were told that an online order for delivery normally takes about an hour. On reminding her that the website says 45 minutes, she pointed out that this is not guaranteed. As I was on the phone with her, we got a call from the Merivale pizza outlet who were delivering. The gentlemen called to say that the pizza would be another 15 minutes or so and he was very sorry for the delay. He also said that they would take 50% off the price. When the pizzas arrived, we were charged only 50% for our order (two medium pizzas). The delivery man was also very apologetic. The pizzas (vegetarian Greek Pizza and Chicken Meltdown) were delicious. The cost excluding tip was $20 after the 50% discount for late delivery. However the best part was how honestly the delay was handled by the Merivale outlet. Kudos to them for their customer service and for calling us to tell us that there would be a delay. We will certainly be ordering again from these guys again.
