We were very excited to try the Marathon Ethiopian Restaurant in Kensington with our friends. While they had frequented the restaurant in the past, we had never been. I looked on line in advance to see the menu and decide before hand what I would...like to have for dinner. Lamb - my favourite. Our reservation was for 7:00 pm. The restaurant was unassuming but welcoming and smelled delicious. We ordered drinks and chatted comfortably for a few minutes until the server was ready to take our order. Unfortunately, they did not have any lamb. Not any, for any of their lamb dishes. So I ordered a sizzling shrimp dish. Our hosts chose several Ethiopian dishes which sounded delicious and they were, once they actually arrived. We enjoyed each others company which was a good thing because our meals did not arrive until nearly 9:00 pm. Sitting as we did near the kitchen we observed order after order go out the door via the Skip the Dishes delivery person. It was not until that delivery rush ended that our meals were prepared.Once the food actually arrived it was quite tasty, if a bit over saturated in butter. But by then we were so hungry no one complained. Perhaps diners received priority at lunch. But our experience for dinner was that Skip the Dishes comes first.
