I’ve been here three times for takeout these last six weeks. Every time the food was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t wait to go back after my first takeout. First visit, two Malatang was $30 cash. A week later, with just a little more toppings it...was suddenly $40. This was confusing and the person taking my order didn’t speak good enough English to have a reasonable discussion about how I was being charged. But they at least added two free drinks at the end and the food was tasty. Two nights ago, essentially the same meal and now it was $46. No free drinks, no discount for paying cash and while I was friendly, I could tell something wasn’t adding up. Neither of the ladies seemed to understand my issues (ie charging me extra for the noodles AND still adding them to the bowl and charging me their weight — ie charging me double). I never did see an actual weight show up on the scale for which I was being charged (for newcomers, you load a bowl from the buffet and pay a flat rate by weight). I promised my wife Malatang, it was delicious … but the experience has left me irritated and while I’ll probably return, it won’t be as a regular and I won’t be recommending the place. Perhaps if I spoke Mandarin I could have had a better conversation with them and that’s no fault of theirs. They’re doing their best during a pandemic and as I said, the food is tasty.
