On Sept. 4, a friend and I had lunch here, both getting the veal parmagiana and pasta. My friend is Italian. He said the pasta was fine but the veal was not. I though it was ok, but just ok. I wonder if this restaurant...is past its prime and coasting on its reputation. It sure is not a fancy place, more like something from 1957, although I kind of enjoyed that ambience. The owners are a nice older couple who speak little English. They don't provide a written menu so this can be a bit of a problem re: understanding ,,, if you speak no Italian. (I suspect most clients are Italian.) Unless they were attracted by the rave reviews. fyi, their sign says RUSTICO in big print and San Remo below. It's right next to Battlefield House. The owner raises his own tomatoes and herbs. Their son-in-law was there today but I don't know if there is any plan for him to take over, modernize, etc. Frankly, I think it is time for something to happen.
