My husband and I were in Calgary for the first time. It was during Ramadan, and we needed a halal place to eat after breaking our fasts. He suggested Afghani. TripAdvisor reviews showed AliBaba Kabob House was the best (only?) place that fit the bill....Got there, cozy, clean restaurant. The owner and one assistant managed all the orders. They apologized for taking so long, but it was not really an issue. We were dining in anyway. In any case, it was worth it. I had the chicken shawarma platter and my husband had the chicken tikka and beef kufta platter. Some of the best we have ever had. Delicious, perfectly cooked, and everything was fresh. Most highly recommended. As we were leaving, the owner gave us some complimentary baklava, I suppose for making us wait. The nicest guy I have met in a long time. Go to AliBaba. You won’t be disappointed.
