I’ve been to most of Toronto’s higher end restaurants over the years, and let me tell you - Byblos gives them all a run for their money! Interesting flavours, fresh ingredients, great location and they’ve got the busy tables to prove it. Went during COVID...- booked online for same day, excellent service and easy to book online through open table. Restaurant was clean, well managed and COVID protocols were clearly in place and being observed by all. Had been to this location for a wedding, interesting to see it made up as a restaurant now - modern decor, very comfortable atmosphere. Lots of young professionals and groups, would make a great spot for special occasions or date night. Steps to Roy Thomson / Theatres and subway. Easy to find, though parking could be a challenge. Spaces available off site, but due to location might be pricey. Had the branzino (fish) - did not disappoint! It was the crown jewel of the menu and came up in several reviews - so I had to try it! Big enough to share, crispy, light and incredibly delicious. I’ll dream of that damn fish…. Surprise wonder : the hummus was incredible and the bread it came with (house baked) I would literally die for. I could’ve made an entire meal out of the damn hummus and bread! At one point we ran out of the bread and I was just eating the leftover hummus right off the spoon, it was that good. Note worthy mentions : jewelled rice and lamb pide were also excellent. Server was knowledgeable, service was prompt and bar staff had fun selection of fancy mixed drinks. Had the rose gulab and the geographer - both were beautiful and delicious! Garnished with little flowers and served in pretty little martini style glasses, they were on the expensive side (running around $15-18) but it was worth the splurge to try the interesting flavours. Took menu and drink recommendations from the server and the man did not miss a beat, he knew the menu well and everything he recommended was delicious and had us practically licking the plates. Must haves : branzino, rose gulab cocktail, hummus, mousse for dessert! Worth a try : Turkish coffee, jewelled rice, pide For 2 people, 3 courses and drinks, it came to around $200 - not bad for a date night / special occasion. This place is a gem - highly recommend! Can’t wait to go backMore
