I got turned on to eating poke from our last visit to Maui. So, I looked forward to trying Pokerrito. This is a small place. There are only a few seats. Most of the space was for people to line up and the Poke making...area, which reminded me of Subway. All of the ingredients are in little metal containers behind glass and the server goes down the line assembling the poke salad. The price seemed to be average. $11 for two small scoops of "protein" and $14 for three small scoops. You can customize your salad by selecting your ingredients or you can choose the pre-configured versions. My wife chose the "North Shore" which used albacore and I chose the "Diamond Head" which was spicy tuna. We chose white and brown rice respectively. You can opt for more salad instead of rice, or a wrap version. You just follow along your bowl as it is being assembled until you reach the cashier where you pay. The credit card machine provides recommended levels for a tip. In retrospect, I probably should not have tipped at all. There was no other service other than the preparation of the bowl. With no place to sit, we walked to the park at Cathedral Square and sat on the benches. Watch out for needles. I say that as warning but there were hardworking volunteers who cleaned up the park and put needles into a biohazard container. It looked spotless, but I would not want to walk barefoot in the grass. That did not stop a homeless person from washing his bare feet in the water fountain. Just look the other way and enjoy the view of Cathedral across the street. The bowl looked average size, but it was quite filling. My spicy tuna had a bit of a kick and I had to pick out some of the jalapenos. Not a bad meal. It is certainly a healthy take-out option.
