One of the Frank Gehry-designed spaces, AGO Bistro is conveniently located on the first floor with access from Dundas Street. The restaurant is casual chic: modern Danish furnishings are paired with acrylic tabletops in a multitude of vibrant colours. Etched glass and vertical-grain Douglas fir also accent the space. With a dedication to using the best local produce, menus reflect seasonal changes and availability. Ingredients are sourced from the finest suppliers and farms, and are cooked simply to showcase the natural flavours of the food.

Would have liked some art work on the walls where we were seated.
It was a lovely time filled with fancy treats and dreamy teas.
I didn’t realize a third of the menu was sandwiches (what sounds like an actual dish on the menu, is actually a sandwich). I think it should be noted on the menu when a food item is a sandwich. When I inquired about the food with the restaurant staff prior to booking, there was also no mention that the items that sounded like dishes were actually sandwiches. The sandwiches were nothing fabulous and the bread tasted like yesterday’s. At the very least, the bread should’ve been fresh. The quality of the ingredients, in all the food items, was mediocre for the price. The cost should really be about half of what it currently is, per person, to match the quality of the food. Conversely, the teas and the service were fabulous, We were able to try all kinds of very nice teas that were served in beautiful tea kettles and pretty tea cups, by very attentive and polite wait staff.
Was a great idea to get us oldies back into the building
Best burger I’ve had in a while. And the take out pie was really good.
Great brunch and felt super safe during covid had a great time. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to not wait in line for a delicious lunch. Also we missed out the afternoon tea but there will always be next time.
Went for the afternoon tea. Very good COVID policies. Service excellent. Afternoon tea food 7/10. Was happy they allowed us to have as much tea as we wanted and could try multiple flavours.
Had high tea, only on for weekends in September. Food was very good, complimentary Mimosa, and excellent teas. Quite pricey, though.
The AGO Bistro is a calm, safe dining experience, with lovely ambiance, friendly staff, and keen attentive service. I will definitely continue to invite friends and family members to share a meal prior to visiting the gallery. Thank you for your respectful considerations throughout.
Where can you feel comfortable eating during this difficult COVID time? AGO’s Bistro! The tables are far apart, the staff is masked, the room is airy and filled with light. And the food is beautifully prepared and presented. Afterwards, a visit to the gallery itself makes for a perfect afternoon.
The food was amazing. Wish a bit more as I enjoyed it so much. The server was so nice and I love for the afternoon tea you can drink as many teas as you want. It made for a fantastic visit to the AGO
Attentive service. Knowledgeable staff. 4 of us went for afternoon tea. Exceptional covid-19 sanitizing practices in affect. Food was fresh and delicious. The only thing missing was clotted cream. We are looking forward to a Christmas tea.
