I went in right before closing so I was in a bit of a rush. I wasn’t looking for a huge meal and the menu was very clear which made it easy to choose. I had a Grilled cheese sandwich and Potato Lerk soup. The...sandwich was made on a very good sourdough bread and the cheese was aged white cheddar. Truly the best Grilled Cheese I ever had. Beside the awesome sandwich it was served with a mustard that was the best mustard I have ever tasted. Silly to be gushing over mustard I know, but if you go there you will understand. The other sauce was not ketchup but a spicy tomato based sauce that was also very good. The soup needed no extra seasoning it was perfect. I worried that arriving at closing the staff would rush me, but no the were both kind and helpful, taking the time to tell me about the menu items and the heavenly mustard. They were completely delightful. The restaurant was bright and clean.You could see the food preparation area and it was spotless as was the whole place. Really if your on Broadway, “Meat and Bread” can stand up against any restaurant in the whole area. If I hadn’t been traveling with limited suitcase space I would have bought several jars of that worthy mustard. I hope you go and try this place , you will not be disappointed.
