I used to eat lunch at El Furniture a couple of times a month and was always happy with the food. My favorite item was their grilled cheese sandwich made on a tasty cranberry sourdough bread, some real cheese (including goat cheese) inside and some...crispy parmesan on the outside from the grilling. We tried again to treat ourselves for one of our first takeout meals since Covid and were so sad and disappointed. Their grilled cheese is now made on cheap white bread (think Wonderbread). The filling is one slice of processed cheese food. One side was grilled but the other side was not, just soaked in rancid oil...so soggy, smelly and gross. We were also upcharged $2 per meal for takeout, which doesn't make any sense. Takeout, if anything, should be cheaper because no wait staff needed to spend time on our order. After several years of looking forward to eating at El Furniture we'll never go back.
