While the service is fantastic - the hospitality is un-matched! Grapes and Soda is a true west side Vancouver treasure. The food is delicious and the cocktails are creative, balanced and immaculately executed. If you have never been before make sure you stop by for...happy hour - small plates as well as the cheese and charcuterie are discounted and you'll want to try all of them. In addition to the food specials there is a daily cocktail and inexpensive by the glass wines. I often try to stop by for happy hour and then end up staying for dinner - in addition to smaller sharing plates there are always a number of larger options available; meat, fish and pastas. The food is local and seasonal with the menu changing as often as the Vancouver weather. This means you can go back week after week and try something different. Same goes for the cocktail list - there are plenty of original, playful cocktails on the menu but the bartender Satoshi is well versed in classics.. if you don't see something that jumps out you - ask and you shall receive. The staff are friendly and knowledgable about food and wine. The wine list draws heavily on low-intervention and bio-dynamic wine. I know this style of wine list isn't for everyone but if you're adventurous with wine - you will be rewarded!! The open kitchen and small staff means that you can observe the kitchen and in busier times you may even be fortunate enough to have one of the two kitchen staff bring the food over themselves! Stop by, grab a seat at the bar and talk to your neighbour. Grapes and Soda has a following of international residents of Vancouver and locals alike. Every time I pull up a seat I meet some one new!
