It’s a cultural genocide… I am from Mumbai; India and I grew up eating this food every single day so that gives me a carte blanche to pass an unapologetic patronizing opinion. Today, out of sheer desperation and not having anything nearby I went into...this establishment (99% of time Indian establishments just ignore ventilation and that the food smell sticks on the clothes like S#$T on steroid). When I walked into that place I was the only customer placing my order, so I took my time and ordered a staple of my city “Misal”. It’s a deceptively easy-looking dish but it has many complex layers to it and it takes skill to achieve the right balance of heat to taste ratio which is culminated with a generous dosage of something called as “Farsan” (deep-fried goodies), not having the last ingredient is like giving you a burger without the patty inside, it is just plain hurtful and insulting. When I asked the server why it was not given, she just calmly said “Oh! we ran out of it!” In my head, I was screaming and wanted to tell her “Why the @@#$ did you not tell me that in the first place?” Then I was given fried bread, that’s a big “NO”, there are laws against that. It’s always plain old bread in its natural state and even if your pompous location dictates, you still need to check with your clientele if he/she wants to screw with his/her bread. Finally, I said to myself; “It can’t get more screwy than this!” But, boy I was wrong. These folks gave me a sour lentil curry instead of spicy goodness which burns in and on the way out. That was it. I think I have lost my religion and these guys are to be blamed for it. ****If the management is reading this, please invest your time and energy achieving perfection and training your staff about what you are selling. TAKE A BLOODY PAGE OUT OF “DISHOOM- LONDON, UK”, to see how it is done; if not just give all your dishes a fancy and pretentious name and sell it at this ridiculously obscene price, they will come and pay, but at least you will not disappoint folks to whom this food means HOME!More
