It was a cold and wet day - ideal weather to enjoy a hot pot meal for dinner. My wife and I decided to try the Nabebugyo Hot Pot Cuisine, located at the NE corner of Cambie and West 16th. This was our first time...to this place. We were seated right away at a table suitable for four people, with four separate burners for the hot pots - two on each side. We sat on one side of the table. Another couple (that we didn't know) came later and sat on the other side of the table. It was OK. We enjoyed socializing with them as we waited for the food and while we were cooking. They had been here before, so we got some tips from them. There are a number of tables for four along the side. There is also a main table which can seat up to around 20-25 people, each spot with separate burners. There is a good variety of hot pot combinations on the menu. My wife chose the Shabu Shabu which came with sliced pork, a variety of fresh vegetables, a side dish of Ramen, and ice cream as dessert. I chose the tomato, which also came with sliced pork, fresh vegetables, and Ramen but with a tomato broth. As mentioned, we each had a separate burner for the hot pot, but we could share whatever we were having. We enjoyed cooking our own meals. The service was good - ingredients came out not too long after we ordered. The food was delicious (and healthy). The restaurant was very clean. Also good ambiance. Prices were very reasonable. Restaurant also insisted on "no tipping."More
