Delicioso chile relleno! Went to Tapatio yesterday for lunch with a friend. After scanning the authentically Mexican menu, we both ordered the chile relleno ($9.95) and were so glad we did! It was really full of flavour and came with rice and black beans. I'm...pretty sure the cheese inside the pepper was (just) mozzarella, but it was appropriately cheesy and melted so I won't complain. Of course I could be wrong, so apologies if I am. The dish had just the right amount of spiciness for both of us. My friend is Egyptian and likes food a little "hotter" than I do, but we both thought it was perfect. The tomato sauce was simple but very flavourful. The owners are actually Mexican, which is a big plus. I am really tired of "ethnic" restaurants run by anyone but the nationality of the food, where they don't really know how it should look and taste, and there's nothing but disappointment at the end of the meal. We both cleaned up our plates, saying how much we enjoyed it, and we will return to try more of the enticing menu. We were there at Friday lunch time, and there were no other customers at the tables. Listen, people, if you want some authentic Mexican food, this is where to get it. Especially now that the venerable Topanga is no more, you have Tapatio for your Mexican food fix. I highly recommend a visit to Tapatio. If you like real Mexican food, don't delay, dine today! Adios!More
