Laksa King is a curious place. It looks like the present establishment took over a retro diner and left the decor as is but changed the menu from burgers to laksa. Just to confuse you. When we got there it was full. We grabbed the...last table right beside the drafty entrance. The poor sole waitress looked equally polite and stressed. We were quite excited by the menu. We ordered the roti canai (flaky deep fried bread with bowl of curry)for an appetizer while we perused the menu. We ordered the laksa (Southeast Asian seafood curry noodles specifically from Malaysia and Singapore) and the chow kway teow aka fried broad vermicelli with egg and chicken in a dark soy sauce. The laksa arrived before the roti but never mind. The laksa was really good--it had lots of flavour and spice. It reminded me a lot of the laksa I've had in SEA. The roti was disappointing. It was an oily doughy blob and the dipping curry was worse. We ended up dipping the roti in the laksa soup. The kway teow was good if not spectacular (nothing close to the SEA ones which would have clams etc) and I enjoyed it as leftovers the next day. We wanted to try others in the menu e.g. Burmese dishes but will have come again another time.
