I was looking for somewhere to eat this afternoon when I stumbled across the Sunrise on Commercial Drive. I like to dine at independently owned family run businesses and this is one of them. I walked in and it was a flash back to the...land that ime forgot. The menu offerings and decor were not modern at all but I sat down and enjoyed one of the best meals I've had in Vancouver. The service was prompt, welcoming and attentive. The food was plentiful and the prices were very low in comparison to what you got. I ordered the Volcano wings which were extremely hot and as I like hot foods, this was a winner in my book, they're not shy about the heat in those wings. I then ordered a BBQ Ribs & Spaghetti which came with a tossed salad to start, so nice to have 1000 Island dressing instead of all these new vinaigrettes and bizarre creations, and the salad had celery, tomato and cucumber and was coloured with red cabbage. The ribs arrived next and for $18.50 it was a full rack of baby back pork ribs with a generous portion of spaghetti with meat sauce and a piece of the garlic bread. Delicous, plentiful and one happy guy leaving this place. The room was filled with customers from all walks of life all enjoying the scrumptious fare that is offered at Sunrise...I recommend this place and will be back to try other items from the menu. They're open until midnight on weekends and 11pm on Sunday nights...love that.
