As it was our anniversary, we decided to support this restaurant as it had just opened after the pandemic restrictions were easing. First off, the service was very good, and the staff were all taking care with hand sanitizer and masks. But the masks -...were so cheap and poorly made, as our server was talking, his mask kept falling off his nose. The food arrived in the 4 course set menu, with an amuse-bouche. Each course was beautiful and presented on various natural items - a piece of wood we were advised was not edible; a large river rock, etc. But sadly, for all the beauty, the dishes were lacking in flavour. Only the duck confit dish was truly delicious. We had one course that had fennel in it, but it was as tough as plastic! The wine was good - we ordered a bottle rather than the pairings. But sadly, aside from a really cheap and tiny candle in a tacky acrylic holder (the whole thing including the candle only about 4 inches tall) no other nod to our anniversary was made. This is the first time we've celebrated at a high-end restaurant that some sort of fuss was made and even a beautiful dessert or after-dinner drink offered. So that didn't feel very special at all. We also noted that the artwork was very uninteresting and poorly-hung, rather at odds with the rest of the ambiance. This restaurant is getting old and tired, and very little effort being made to create special and memorable experiences. For the high-end pricing, we expected better. Much better.
