We visited Pho Tan's in Kerrisdale twice this month, the first time by accident, and the second by design. Today, our party of three had the Pho Ga and the Pho Bo Hue. On the last trip, we had the Pho Ga Sate and the...Bun Thit. In every case, the food was excellent... we recently have returned from our third trip to Vietnam, and this authentic restaurant reminds us very much of being there! The large dishes range in price from $10 to $12. Our bill for the three dinners today was just $34...fabulously tasty food at a great price. The restaurant has seemed steadily busy each time we have been there, and the take-out crowd is there too. The service is quick and efficient, like in Vietnam. But don't expect the staff to always wander by and ask how your meal is... they let you eat in peace and do not intrude on your meal. If you need something, ask. They will gladly get it. The food from the spicy side of the menu is not over-the-top hot, but it will make you use a few extra napkins. The restaurant does not serve alcohol, and they do not accept credit cards...debit and cash are welcomed. The owner always seems to be present, and is welcoming and cordial.
