Had a lovely dinner with a small group of family. We started with the seafood platter for two even though there were three of us. It had a good selection of appetizers from the menu. The south America style popcorn was fun. With the crab...causas (potato purée), the flavour of the crab was completely lost unfortunately. The ceviche, sashimi, tuna tartar and oysters were good. It’s hard to put my finger on what I thought but do feel there was something lacking. It kind of felt the items were store bought and plopped on the tray. The prawns looked thawed and the muscles looked dry, not fresh. The lobster risotto was creamy, my sable fish on quinoa was very good and the scallops were very flavourful. Salmon eggs on top of the scallops were shared amongst the other quests. One thing we all had a good laugh at was the portions sizes. No surprise that when the desert came we weren’t worried about the calories. The chocolate brownie with ice cream was shared by all. We managed a bite each. Liked the spicy raspberries but thought the ice cream was a little sandy. If you are rich you will love the wine menu! Managed to find a Oregon Chardonnay that was excellent. I do wish that the waiter talked less to notice that my wine glass was empty of which I had to refill myself a number of times, once in front of him. I think the bottle wasn’t expensive enough for him to care.
