Noting that Colony is about to open a location near me in North Vancouver, we decided to venture over to Main Street and try out the Colony menu. The menu was normal for a pub, but had some nice twists to it that will make...us return (or go to the new North Vancouver location). We shared a flatbread style pizza with fig and onion and goat cheese. It was very nice, tasty and perfect for us to share. Figs are available fresh for only a few short weeks a year, so, the cook uses dried mission figs. They are hard and harder when cooked on a flatbread. I suggest the cook explore reconstituting the figs in warm water for 15+ minutes, pat dry, then cut and put on the flatbread. That way they will have a fuller fig flavour and not knock the fillings out of your teeth ! The service was efficient, quick and friendly. The surroundings were not elaborate, but it is a pub - beer and food are the stock in trade. Looking foward to trying more items in North Vancouver.
