We were in Edmonton driving around to see the various sites. My Garmin was with us as it is, most everywhere around the world. We decided on italian food. Brought up the various italian places in and around West Edmonton Mall. One option stuck out,...Quan's. What a funny italian name (yes we may be from the states but we figure out it was not italian) so off we went. Gee whiz, it's not italian it an asian/Vietnamese restaurant. It was a fusion restaurant, both asian and Vietnamese depending on your preference. My wife, Japanese, wanted asian food. So she had Ginger beef stir fry. She enjoyed it, flavorful well seasoned and close to how she would make it at home. I am a Pho person. But the menu mentioned no Pho, rather they had Noodles in Beef Soup, huh? Yes for those from the states or who have visited Asia, it is Pho. Their beef soup/broth was well seasoned and had all the flavor I would hope for. The only thing missing was the Thai/regular basil, but that's part of being in Canada at the end of summer, Also, they had no jalapenos (the SoCal version accompaniment) but they had some good hot chili oil to make up for it. The front of house staff was wonderful. The 2 ladies that served us were very engaging, made sure we had enough tea, etc. Luckily it had stopped snowing, it was just plain cold. We enjoyed our meal, the exchange with the staff and generally it felt like home. What better recommendation can you make.
