On August 14, 2021, we decided to go get late night pho here. When we sat down, we asked for water and tea which is quite normal and never in my life, have I ever been told that I was to going to be charged...for TAP WATER if I wanted it. The old man with the pink hair there told us we are only allowed either or. If we wanted water, he was going to charge us. We asked why? It didn't make sense. He looked at us and said that they were already understaffed and that they didn't want to wash extra dishes. We all thought we were getting punked at this point because we were just in shock. I've never had this problem ANYWHERE. Onto our order.. I ordered the banh canh. It was bland and oily and the meat tasted old. While I was picking up pieces of noodles and soup with my spoon, I noticed a weird looking piece that didn't look right. I thought to myself that it didn't look like onion that was cooked in the broth. It looked like plastic. I showed everyone at the table and we had doubts until I bit the corner piece just to test it out and yep, it was plastic. It was a 4 inch piece of plastic melted in my bowl. I was very upset. I waved down the old man with pink hair. He did not look shocked at all. He stared at me for a good 30 second seconds as if he didn't believe me and then he proceeded to say sorry but so insincerely and then offered to make another bowl. I agreed to it but then a minute after, I changed my mind because I was so upset I just wanted to go home. I usually find hair in my food.. but plastic? C'mon. We decided to go up to the front and and tell him that we didn't want it anymore and to please remove it from our bill so we can pay and go. He got mad at us and at this point, there were also people waiting behind us to order takeout - he decides to play victim and yell at us saying that we were upset because of the water and tea situation and then proceeded yelling at us that it's not fair to them how they have to make us a new bowl because we found plastic in it. He didn't want to acknowledge the fact that we were upset because of the plastic found in our food in front of the other people waiting until we had to remind him that it wasn't because of the water and tea - it was because WE FOUND PLASTIC IN OUR FOOD. The gentlemen behind us looked shocked to hear. He still tries to argue with us and kept refusing to take off the meal on our bill and yelled at us saying that we HAVE TO PAY. It was an outrageous situation and this should never happen to any paying customer. I know I should have also taken a picture but I was just in shock to find the plastic and wanted to get rid of my bowl asap. ASIDE FROM THE FOOD BEING AWFUL... The service there was horrible as well. My brother in law, who is Caucasian, was approached and asked "you want a fork? You can't use chopsticks". It wasn't just the assumption from them that he couldn't use a fork but the fact that they kept insisting him on using a fork because they really didn't believe he could use chopsticks. It was very upsetting to see that happen. AGAIN - I WILL REPEAT THIS AND THAT IS - THIS HAS NEVER EVER EVER HAPPENED TO US. EVER. We won't be going back and definitely won't be recommending this place to ANYONE EVER. I don't know if the old man with the pink hair is the owner or just employee but I hope they change the way they treat their paying customers because no one should ever experience something like this.
