We had a small year-end work function of 11 people at 4 p.m. which is during their happy hour. When I arrived, they told me that they prohibit "large" parties from accessing the happy hour menu which they did not mention when I booked over...the phone. Now, I would completely understand were the place packed, but we were the only ones in the restaurant! And we remained the only ones for close to an hour! I would further understand had the food and drinks been amazing, but they were only average at best, and definitely didn't live up to the price. Perhaps my view of the service--also average--was marred by the initial reception. With so many other competing (and good) restaurants in the area, I'm a bit surprised that a greater effort wasn't made at providing better service. It definitely didn't justify the mandatory 18% gratuity that is common for bigger parties. That said, I wouldn't preclude trying Flying Pig again--just not the Olympic Village location. In fact, a much better restaurant adjacent to Flying Pig is WildTale: it's comparable in size with tastier food and superior service. Go there directly and don't waste your time with Flying Pig!More
