We took our friends, who are not vegan to introduce them to vegan food in Doug's Public Kitchen based on the amazing TripAdvisor reviews, and boy were we embarrassed! This is not what good vegan food is like, we kept on telling them throughout the...meal catching their unimpressed glances. And yes, a very good restaurant can sport that hippie dingy look, but in combination with below-average food, the interior just appeared shabby. This was one of the worst vegan meals that I had in my life: tasteless, unimaginative, sloppy. Big thick slab of tofu covered by some yellow sauce is not a meal. Pure chunks of tofu are not edible without some cooking and spices added to it. Old-school coffee jugs going around with coffee are the only option. Spare yourself a trip way out of town, especially if you've never tasted vegan food. That will put you off it for good.
