With the current COVID indoor dining restrictions, we decided to order a Carnitas Taco Kit from the Tacofino Comissary as takeout. This is a really thoughtful meal pack for you to prepare at home, which includes a starter (lamb taquitos or jalapeño poppers), your choice...of tacos with all the fixings, and churro cookies for dessert. When we picked it up it was all packaged up thoughtfully in a large paper shopping bag including a fun cardboard printout with 3D cactus crafts you can cut out and assemble and a QR code with a fun taco party Spotify list and another QR code with instructions on how to prepare your food. The food was delicious and was plenty for two. There was a container of 6 jalapeño poppers to heat in the oven, a hefty portion of pork escabeche that you also heat up in the oven, 9 flour tortillas to warm up, their homemade tortilla chips and a salsa fresco to snack on, a whole lime, chipotle slaw, their homemade salsa verde and salsa roja, pickled carrots and cauliflower, and a bag of 4 churro cookies. We played the music, decorated the table with the cacti and spread all the food out in enticing ways. It was a fun respite from pandemic living and a taste of Tacofino at home.
