I have been coming to Aladdin Cafe for the past 5 years. That is very well situated, close to the shopping center. I am very familiar with Middle Eastern food. This place and no way compares to authentic Middle Eastern food. Having lived in Vancouver...for the past 28 years, I can tell you there aren't a lot of alternatives. The guys running the establishment are friendly. They are accommodating when it comes to getting your order personalized. I usually go for their lamb or chicken shawarma. Their lamb shawarma is not authentic. The meat is sauted on the grill and then wrapped into a shawarma sandwich. It is not the typical meat that is carved of the large shawerma skewer. The chicken shawarma is good, but not great. Their fattoush salad is not authentic either either. The portions are good however. In terms of authenticity, I give this place 5-6 out of 10. I Ikea returning to this establishment because there isn't a more authentic alternative in Vancouver, unfortunately. Whenever I miss the taste of the Middle East, this place hits the spot.
