First, I'll mention the good things: The servers are friendly and the view of Parliament Hill is nice and the seating is very comfy. Now the not good things--and there are multiple. For $49 plus tax and service in a restaurant at the Fairmont Chateau...Laurier, I expect better. I was served a low quality orange juice (at this price point, I would have expected fresh OJ as standard), I asked them to switch it out for fresh OJ (which was on the menu for a price). I was brought out a tall glass. When the taste test told me that it wasn't fresh, I asked them politely to recheck. They did check and said it wasn't fresh--trying to pass off bad OJ for fresh is just unconscionable. Then there was the bread selection: At this price point, I would have expected a selection of bread and rolls. Instead, there was a sorry excuse for a baguette--what one would find at a low quality supermarket and surely not baked in house. And that was it! There were a few fancy cracker like breads but no other choices. I asked for a vegetarian omelet. What I got had chunks of ham in it. The same tongs were used to gather up the ingredients and there were chunks of ham stuck to it. The cross contamination is beyond acceptable. The fruit selection was: pale watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, and pineapple--The same selection I get at free breakfasts in many lower market hotel chains. No berries, no interesting fruits, no scattering of something a touch more exotic. I am calling Wilfrid's out--trying to pass a low quality/cafeteria like buffet as a high end brunch buffet.
