Visited the Monarch for a show recently. It is a cash only bar, and has pretty much the world's slowest atm for money. The seating is interesting, around the sides of the main floor, with lots of room in the middle for dancing. The sound...was really good, even standing pretty much right up against the stage. The bar staff was pleasant and handled a crowd pretty well. The upstairs was cool too. Confusing decor, like neon signs, black and white movies on tv's, a pinball machine, brass, wood, and an incredibly varied clientele. People having an office party, frat boys, old dads, bike delivery people, hipsters, little bit of everything. It was a great night.
