My friend Nancy took me here for a belated birthday lunch. Thank-you...She is thorough and researched before. Immediately, the atmosphere was inviting. Some locals and regulars having casual conversation with the owner. Jazz music playing in the background. The fire log adding to the ambience...on the tv screens. What to order? Breakfast or lunch. We chose dessert first! As the mini baklava cookie cake looked inviting. It was delicious, fresh home-baked, crunchy, full of nuts. It wasn’t overly sweet. It was perfection. Nancy chose the lamb pita, and I had the chicken pita. We both enjoyed our lunch, dripping with fresh Tzatziki sauce. Filled with yummy goodness. Generous portion size. $7.00 deal. I will admit I was hesitant to write my first Trip Advisor review for the city we call home as did I want others to know of this sweet gem? After consideration I felt compelled to share. We eat out a lot and our city has a variety of ethnic restaurants. This one is authentic. I look forward to going back and trying more dishes. The sausage pie looked amazing and tasted delicious later. Thought I best take some goodies home to share. I was craving hot chocolate and had a mug at the cafe. It was rich and creamy, “choc” full of flavour, again not overly sweet. Topped with this humungous marshmallow that was a meal in itself. Note to self, for next time....as it was filling. The cafe is located “on the drive” as locals refer to it. It is conveniently located two blocks north if you are arriving from the Commercial Street skytrain. The owner, Bob was attentive to all. I was observing him, when it would get busy at the counter, he immediately summoned help. He talked passionately when we asked about each of the different types of desserts. He was always doing something in the background between conversations with all. We truly enjoyed this experience. For myself, I have written some reviews for Trip Advisor when I travel abroad. This is the first time that I cared to share about an authentic eating experience in our beautiful city of Vancouver. Thank-you Bob, and all at this wonderful “Sweet Greek” Cafe. Proof the food was that good. No photos, the food got all our attention, the idea of entertaining a photo never occurred. Live in the moment, let your senses enjoy ?. Sincerely, Two happy foodies, Nancy and Christine todallyinspired.comMore
