My sister and I were visiting from the States and were craving some Indian food on a Monday night. That Monday turned out to be Canadian Thanksgiving, but fortunately Tamarind was open. Having read the great reviews, we felt we’re home free. We asked for...an Indian beer - either the Kingfisher or Taj Mahal which were on the menu, but were told they had neither in stock. “Try Carlsberg then, it’s good”, I suggested to my sister, “and I’ll have the same”. “I think we only have 1 left”, replied our server. When she returned with 1 Carlsberg she confirmed this, so I ordered a Canadian. Our entrées were Beef Rendang and Palak Saag Chicken, respectively, both of which we noted were decidedly ordinary at best. We had a plentiful and fresh mixed bread basket to accompany. When we asked about dessert, we’re told that they only had Galub Jamon; as this is not a favorite, we passed. All in all, we don’t see ourselves returning.
