Whether you consider yourself to be high tech or low tech Foodlink will be offering local food sourcing tools for one and all this season. Back by popular demand is the 11th Annual Buy Local! Buy Fresh! paper map listing over 70 farms as well as farm markets and other businesses that produce and sell local food.
The official launch of the new map will take place Saturday, May 26, 10-noon at the Elmira Farmers' Market who will be celebrating their 10th year anniversary. Be among the first to get your map and pick up some great local food at the same time!
In case you haven't heard Foodlink has another exciting launch also taking place this month. As an extension of its paper map and on-line local food finder, Foodlink has recently developed a free App download for Blackberry device users offering instant access to local food sources. This innovative tool will interface with Foodlink’s existing database providing “live” up-to-date information, as well as directions to farms, markets and retail outlets using GPS mapping technology and Google maps API integration.
Members of the community are invited to the official launch of the new Local Food App on Wednesday, May 23, 5-7pm at Communitech in the Tannery Building, 151 Charles St. W., Kitchener. Copies of the 2012 Buy Local! Buy Fresh! paper map will also be available.
