Laepple’s 8th Annual Potatofest August 28
Once a year on the last Saturday in August we invite customers, friends, and neighbours to our annual Potatofest. We enjoy sharing our farm and the joys and challenges that come with growing organic food.
For many a visit to the Laepple farm is a walk down memory lane. We are a diversified farm that grows hay, grains and potatoes, and raise beef cattle and other livestock the old fashioned and natural way.
Potatofest is an open house event. This year the event takes place Saturday, August 28, 1-7 pm. We offer tours through the fields on a tractor drawn hay wagon. There is also a stop at the potato field where young and old prospectors are allowed to dig for gold (Yukon Gold potatoes).
Organic ice cream and coffee is available all afternoon, and a roast beef dinner and salad bar is served from 4:30 to 6 pm. This year’s dinner is being prepared by Cathy Hanson of the Philosopher’s Kitchen with support from Canadian Organic Growers.
Children are not only welcome, but encouraged to have a close-up look at all the farm animals, play in the straw or go for a ride with Thunder on his pony cart.
Each year a variety of vendors join us to introduce their latest ideas and products for sustainable living. The farm store is also open where you can purchase what we’ve grown in our fields and raised in our barn.
Other features this year include a film screening in the barn, Dig-Your-Own-Potatoes, a new Barefoot Path, Flea Market, Organic Roast Beef Dinner & Salad Bar (4:30-7:00).
For dinner tickets or further info call 519-634-1033 or email laepple@golden.net www.localorganic.ca.
Hope to see you there!
