A Fishing Adventure in Waterloo Region

A Fishing Adventure in Waterloo Region

There is a wonderful unique local food opportunity that awaits you in Waterloo Region! Located just outside of Kitchener in New Dundee, Lyndon Public Fishing & Hatcheries offers an interesting adventure suitable for the whole family.

Here you can drop your line into the natural spring-fed pond, stocked with thousands of Lyndon’s own farm raised Rainbow Trout! If you don’t have your own fishing gear, you can rent one for $6. A modest $5 admission fee enables you to stay for as long as you like while you fish and laze the day away! You can bring your own worms, or purchase them on site for $3.00 per dozen.

Once you catch your prize Rainbow Trout, they will custom dress it for you. The fish will be cleaned and gutted so that you don’t have to do it. You’ll be provided with a sterile bag for carry home, all included for $6.00 per pound. Another option is to have your meal on-site and barbeque your fish at the pond. Water, pop and chips are also available to supplement picnic lunches.

If you didn’t catch anything but are still hankering for a taste of fish, you may want to pick up some of Lyndon’s very own Smoked Rainbow Trout for $11.00 per pound. This is a delicious treat that also happens to be good for you!

Did you know that trout is a good source of iron, B vitamins, essential omega fatty acids and is natural in sodium and calories? A 3 ½ oz. Canadian farmed Trout has 130 calories and provides 40% of the daily requirement (RDI).

Lyndon Fish Hatcheries was founded in 2000 with two sites in New Dundee and one on Manitoulin Island. Lyndon also supplies other fish farms across North America and beyond, with Rainbow Trout eggs and fingerlings.

This summer come catch a local treat. Bring family and friends and discover just how much fun you can have in your own backyard!

Ruth Trussler says:

Last year Trussler Farms had their pond stalked with 75 trout from Lyndon Hatcheries. The blue herons have had a great time fishing with much success. The Trusslers have yet to catch a fish.
Happy Fishing.
