Local Food Across Ontario
Local food is a hot topic accross the province of Ontario. Many counties have created their own programs to promote farms and food businesses in their communities.
Many of these initiatives are supported by a collaborative of interested organizations which often include a county Federation of Agriculture (or other farm organization like the National Farmer's Union), local public health units, community futures development corporations, farmers' markets, tourism offices or regional governments.
These initiatives often start with a mapping project or web directory of local producers. Some have branched out and created regional brands. Others focus on culinary events and "agri-tainment".
