Transitional Organic

Depending on the commodity, it may take 3-5 years for a farm to switch from conventional to organic farming practices.  During this time, the grower may label his/her product as transitional organic to acknowledge that organic practices are gradually being introduced. The price for the crop or animal will fall in the range between conventional and organic prices.
